Today, let’s introduce Gemma, who is part of the Susi Cala team. Her role in the company is to manufacture the different jewels in the workshop.
For you, what does the Susi Cala brand represent?
‘I think Susi Cala represents an opportunity not only for work, but also being in a place where I feel good, doing something I like, because in Spain it is very difficult to finish your studies and immediately have a job in the field you have studied. Here, I have the opportunity to prosper in my future. Susi Cala is also a place where I can meet a lot of people and share nice moments. I meet interns every year that come from all around the world!’
If you had to choose one jewel from the brand, which one would it be? And why?
‘Well, any jewel from the “Sophie” collection because they are the ones I first learned to make, and I’ve made so many! I also really like the “Mir XL” earrings which are very elegant!’

What are the things that make you happy?
‘Working on what I studied and what I like, sharing time with my friends and family. I guess my day-to-day life makes me very happy.’
What is the perfect song for you when you work?
‘It’s “Somewhere Only We Know” by Keane because it is played several times in the workshop. We’ve been listening to this song a lot, so when I think about working with music, this is the one that comes to my mind.’
How is your daily life at Susi Cala?
‘My daily life is quite always similar. Here at Susi Cala, I can learn new and different things regularly since there is many pieces, and it can be sometimes difficult. Even if I’m here since a several years I never stop learning but in general we go over the pieces. Then we can also talk to each other, for example we share what we have done when we are not here and we also eat together.’
Where do you see yourself in five years?
‘I think you never finish learning or studying, so I would like to maybe do some more courses on jewelry but complemented with work because I see myself in Susi Cala learning more things.’
